Objective To investigate the relationship of pulmonary surfactant protein D( SP-D) with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease ( COPD) by measuring SP-D level in serum and lung tissue of rats with COPD.Methods The rat COPD model was established by passive smoking as well as intratracheal instillation of lipopolysaccharide ( LPS) . Thirty male SD rats were randomly divided into a control group, a LPS group, and a COPD group( n =10 in each group) . The pathologic changes of lung tissue and airway were observed under light microscope by HE staining. Emphysema changes were evaluated by mean linear intercept ( MLI) of lung and mean alveolar number ( MAN) . The level of SP-D in serum was measured by enzymelinked immunosorbent assay ( ELISA) . The expression of SP-D in lung tissue was detected by Western-blot and immunohistochemistry.Results The MLI obviously increased, and MAN obviously decreased in the COPD group compared with the control group ( Plt;0.05) . There was no significant difference in the MLI and MAN between the LPS group and the control group ( Pgt;0.05) . The serum SP-D level was ( 49.59 ±2.81) ng/mL and ( 53.21±4.17) ng/mL in the LPS group and the COPD group, which was significantly higher than that in the control group [ ( 42.14±2.52) ng/mL] ( Plt;0.05) . The expression of SP-D in lung tissue was 0.56±0.01 and 0.63±0.01 in the LPS group and the COPD group, which was also obviously ber than that in the control group ( 0.39 ±0.01) ( Plt;0.05) .Meanwhile the SP-D levels in serumand lung tissue were higher in the COPD group than those in the LPS group ( Plt;0.05) . The levels of SP-D between serum and lung tissue were positively correlated in all three groups ( r=0.93, 0.94 and 0.93, respectively, Plt;0.01) .Conclusion Both the SP-D level in serum and in lung tissue increase significantly in COPD rats and correlate well each other, which suggests that SP-D may serve as a biomarker of COPD.
Objective To observe the autofluorescence of dated fundus hemorrhage excited by the excitaton light with different wavelength. Methods A total of 23 patients (23 eyes) with dated fundus hemorrhage were observed. The blue light under the fundus fluorescence angiography (FFA) mode of Topcon 50IA fundus camera was the excitation light, and the whiteandblack images of 4 patients and colorized images of 16 patients were collected, respectively. The autofluorescence of dated fundus hemorrhage in other 3 patients was observed by excitation of scanning laser with the wavelength of 488 nm and 795 nm emitted from Heidelberg retina angiography apparatus (HRA2). Results The black and white images showed the b red autofuorescence of dated fundus hemorrhage in 4 patients, while the colorized ones revealed the red autofluorescence in 16 patients. The hemorrhage autofluorescence could be also excited by blue laser (488 nm) and infrared laser (795 nm) using HRA2, but with different extent and intensity. Conclusions Due to the complex composition of dated fundus hemorrhage, different excitation light can excite the autofuorescence with different wavelength.
Purpose To investigate whether experimental autoimmune uveitis can be induced equally in different rats by urea soluble fraction of bovine melanin-associated antigen(USF-BMAA),and,if so,difference among them. Methods Lewis rats,F344 rats,Wistar rats were immunized with USF-BMAA emulsified with complete Freud is adijuvant and Bordelella pertussis to induce experimental autoimmune uveitis.The animal models were investigated clinically and histopathologically and compared with each other. Rusults Experimental autoimmune uveitis could be induced in Lewis rats,F344 rats and Wistar rats with US-BMAA.Clinical and histopathalogical examination showed that bilateral ocular inflammation developed after immunization 9-13 days.Although inflammation was mainly located in anterior uvea,a mild focal choroiditis was noted in those with severe anterior inflammation.No inflammation was observed in the retina and pineal gland.Experimental autoimmune uveieis induced with USF-BMAA was similar to experimental autoimmune anterior uveitis incited with BMAA presented by other authors.Inflammation induced with USF-BMAA in F344 rats and in Lewis rats was quite similar in the severity and course of the model.But the inflammation was less in Wistar rats compared with that in Lewis rats and F344 rats. Conclusion Experimental autoimmune anterior uveitis was successfully induced with USF-BMAA in Lewis rats,F344 rats and Wistar rats.The difference with regard to the severity among these aminals were propably attributed to their genetic bankground. Abstract:Five eyes of acute retinal necrosis(ARN)with multiple retinal breaks and retinal detachment were treated by closed vetrectomy combined with encircling buckle,gas/fluid exchange,nolaser and cryotherapy.After operation,the detached retinas reattached in 4eyes,and among them th visual acuity was 0.2 in 1 eye,and better than 0.05 in 3 eyes.The follow-up duration in 5 eyes was from 6 to18 months and recurrent retinal detachment was found in one eys.
