ObjectiveTo summarize the new biomarkers of deep venous thrombosis (DVT) and their research progress, so as to provide new ideas for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of DVT. MethodThe literature about biomarkers of DVT in recent 5 years was reviewed and summarized. ResultsAccording to the results of literature review, a variety of common DVT biomarkers such as serum microrna, fibrin monomer, neutrophil capture net, and E-selectin were sorted out, but most of them had not been used in clinical DVT management. At present, the clinical diagnosis of DVT required the combination of positive D-dimer test and positive imaging examination, and there was no single biomarker for the diagnosis of DVT. ConclusionsBiomarkers are valuable in the diagnosis and treatment of DVT, but their sensitivity and specificity need to be optimized. Therefore, finding biomarkers with more diagnostic value is one of the future directions. At the same time, we also can consider fully combined with a variety of existing biomarkers, to improve the efficiency to the diagnosis of DVT.

  • Research progress of Schöttle’s method for femoral tunnel localization in medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction

Objective To review the research progress of Schöttle’s method in medial patellofemoral ligament reconstruction (MPFLR), and provide the latest knowledge and suggestions for surgical treatment. Methods The studies on Schöttle’s method at home and abroad in recent years were extensively collected, then summarized the problems affecting the accuracy of Schöttle’s method and the new ideas to improve the accuracy of localization. Results It’s vital to accurately locate the femoral tunnel during MPFLR. Malposition of the femoral tunnel is the main cause of postoperative complications and surgical failure. Schöttle’s method is the most well studied and most reproducible method for femoral tunnel localization, which is widely used as the “gold standard”. However, there are still problems that affect the accuracy of Schöttle’s method, including the impact of the internal/external rotation and varus/valgus of the knee on localization accuracy, unclear requirements for X-ray imaging and anatomical landmark reference line drawing standards, no suitable for patients with anatomical variations, and lack of further research on pediatric patients. In recent years, some new ideas are proposed to improve the Schöttle’s method to improve the localization accuracy. ConclusionFuture research should combine new technologies such as three-dimensional (3D) printing and intraoperative navigation to develop personalized and intelligent Schöttle’s method, further improving their localization accuracy.

  • Research progress on the correlation between benzodiazepines and postoperative delirium

Postoperative delirium is one of the most common postoperative complications in elderly patients, affecting the outcome of approximately half of surgical patients. The pathogenesis of postoperative delirium is still unclear, but multivariate models of the etiology of postoperative delirium are well-validated and widely accepted, and 40% of postoperative delirium can be effectively prevented by targeting predisposing factors. Benzodiazepines have long been considered as predisposing factors for postoperative delirium. Although benzodiazepines are widely used in clinical practice, most relevant guidelines recommend avoiding the use of benzodiazepines in the perioperative period to reduce the incidence of postoperative delirium. Controversy exists regarding the association of benzodiazepine use with postoperative delirium. This article discusses the results of studies on perioperative benzodiazepines and postoperative delirium.

  • Treatment and progress of cutaneous neurofibroma

ObjectiveTo summarize current widely-used therapies for cutaneous neurofibroma (cNF) and related research progress. MethodsBased on extensive investigation of domestic and foreign research, the existing treatment of cNF, including the indications, effectiveness and trials of targeted drugs were reviewed. ResultscNF is a hallmark feature of neurofibromatosis type 1 and has a dramatic negative impact on patient appearance and quality of life. At present, there is no standard management of cNF. Invasive treatment is a commonly-used treatment. Surgical removal gives excellent cosmetic results, but it is difficult for multiple tumors; CO2 laser ablation, laser photocoagulation, electro-drying, and radiofrequency ablation are effective in treating lots of cNF at one time. Although fast and effective, these therapies can lead to depigmentation, hyperpigmentation, or extensive scarring. There is no targeted drug approval for cNF, and a series of studies have been carried out on the Ras-MEK pathway, Ras-mTOR pathway, receptor tyrosine kinase, et al. ConclusionThe treatment of cNF has developed rapidly in recent years and has broad prospects, but the individualization and precision of the treatment still needs further clinical research.
