Using radioimmunoassay (RIA) and immunohistochemical LASB technique, the level of serum estradiol (E2), testosterone (T), progesterone (P), estrogen receptors (ER) and progesterone receptors (PR) in 30 male patients with gallstones were detected. The results showed that the level of serum P, E2/T and PR was higher. This suggests that the metabolic disorder of gonadal hormones play an important role in gallstone formation.
ObjectiveTo measure and analyze the oxygen saturation and retinal blood vessel diameter in the eyes of patients with convalescence Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada (VKH) syndrome. MethodsIn this cross-sectional study, 28 eyes of 14 patients with convalescence VKH syndrome (VKH group) and 20 eyes of 10 healthy subjects (control group) were enrolled. The oxygen saturation and retinal blood vessel diameter were detected by spectrophotometric oximetry unit. Retinal images were collected using filters with wavelengths of 570 nm and 600 nm in the darkroom by the same technologist and then the fused image was obtained. The oxygen saturation of retinal vessels was marked in different colors. The measurement was repeated 2-3 times for each patient, then take an average. A top-quality image in each eye was selected to detect the oxygen saturation and diameter of retinal vessel which located in 1.5-3.0 disc diameter from the optic disc. Image analysis and data acquisition were completed by another technologist. ResultsRetinal venous oxygen saturation was (54.34±8.05)% in the VKH group and (60.07±7.91)% in the control group. The former was lower than the latter, the difference was significant (t=2.443, P=0.017). The mean diameter of retinal arteries was (102.8±18.1) μm in the VKH group and (112.9±19.8) μm in the control group. The former was smaller than the latter, the difference was significant (t=2.406, P=0.018). There was no significant difference of the mean diameter of retinal veins, oxygen saturation of retinal arteries and the arterial-venous difference between two groups (t=-0.330, 0.804, -0.631; P=0.743, 0.403, 0.536). ConclusionsRetinal venous oxygen saturation and the mean diameter of retinal arteries are significantly decreased in patients with VKH syndrome. There is no significant difference of diameter of retinal veins, oxygen saturation of retinal arteries and the arterial-venous difference between VKH syndrome patients and healthy subjects.
Objective:To detect collagen I synthesis activity in the vitreous of PVR induced by macrophages in rabbits. Methods:PC Ⅲ (Procollagen Ⅲ ) concentrations were measured by radioim- munoassay in the vitreous samples of 14 rabbit eyes with experimental PVR and 14 control eyes. Results:The mean PC Ⅲ concentration on the 7th day after macrophage injection as 257.58mu;g/L(range,236.04~266.88mu;g/L,n= 4)and significantly increased on the 14th day later. On the 28th day the mean concentration of PC Ⅲ as 912.23mu;g/L (range, 881.36~943.10mu;g/L ;n= 2). There was a significant difference between the 7th and the 14th, 21st of 28th day statistically(P<0.05). PC Ⅲ was not detected in control eyes. Conclusion:The PC Ⅲ level in the vitreous of rabbit eyes with experimental PVR increased significantly from the 7th to the 28th day after macrophages injection and is well consistent with the time course of scarring and the development of traction retinal detachment in the PVR model. Transit time flow measurement (TTFM),which is independent of vessel size and shape, has been considered to be an easy, reproducible and non-invasive method to assess the hemodynamic characteristics. Moreover, current studies have shown that TTFM has clinical application in identifying the function of grafted vessel and prognosis. Researchers have proved some reliable indicators for the function of grafted vessel as follows: mean graft flow (MGF) > 15 ml/min, diastolic flow (DF) >50% and pulsatility index (PI)<3 or 5. This article focuses on the review of clinical application and research progress of TTFM in CABG.
Abstract An animal experiment had been conducted for the purpose to find out the possibility of application of instantaneous sustained limited expansion (ISLE). A total of 54 skin defects in 9 pigs were obtained and were divided into two groups. One group of the pigs were subjected to instantaneous sustained limited expansion, the others, as the control group, just received the tension suture. At the same time the blood supply of the skin was measured by laser doppler flowmeter (LDF). It was showed that microcirculatory perfusion of the ISLE group was considerably better than that of the control. Inaddition, the correlation between the blood flow of the skin and the expanding pressure, as well as the pathologic changes of the skin were discussed.
ObjectiveTo investigate the influence of immunoglobulin (Ig)on celluar immune function of postoperative infants with cyanotic congenital heart disease (CCHD). MethodsForty infants who underwent surgical repair of CCHD in Department of Cardiac Surgery, Children's Hospital of Hebei Province from March to December 2012 were enrolled in this study. All the patients were randomly divided into 2 groups. Patients in Ig group received intravenous Ig treatment at the dosage of 1g/ (kg·day)for 2 days postoperatively in addition to routine therapy. Patients in the control group only received routine therapy without Ig treatment. Five ml venous blood samples of all the patients were taken preoperatively, 0.5 hour and 2 days postoperatively to examine serum levels of interferon gamma (IFN-γ)and interleukin-4 (IL-4)with double-antibody sandwich enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay (ELISA), which were compared between the 2 groups. ResultsThere was no statistical difference in serum levels of IL-4 or IFN-γ preoperatively and at 0.5 hour postoperatively between the 2 groups (P > 0.05). Serum levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ at 0.5 hour postoperatively were significantly higher than preoperative levels in the 2 groups respectively (P=0.000). Serum IL-4 level of Ig group 2 days postoperatively was not statistically different from preoperative level (P=0.362), while serum IL-4 level of the control group 2 days postoperatively was significantly higher than preoperative level (P=0.006). Two days after the operation, serum levels of IL-4 and IFN-γ of Ig group were significantly lower than those of the control group respectively (P=0.039 and 0.007 respectively). Compared with serum levels at 0.5 hour postoperatively in the control group, serum IL-4 level at 2 days postoperatively decreased by 20.08% (P=0.001), and serum IFN-γ increased by 17.80% (P=0.001). Compared with serum levels at 0.5 hour postoperatively in Ig group, serum IL-4 level at 2 days postoperatively decreased by 35.38% (P=0.000), and serum IFN-γ only increased by 7.60% (P=0.143). ConclusionCellular immune function disorder caused by the operation and cardiopulmonary bypass can be effectively improved by postoperative intravenous Ig administration, which may help to reduce postoperative complications.
0bjective To evaluate the efficacy of FEV6 and FEV1/FEV6 as surrogates for FVC and FEV1/FVC in the spirometric diagnosis of airway obstruction,and to determine the fixed cut-off point of FEV1/FEV6 which can be used as an alternative for FEV1/FVC lt; 70%.Methods Spirometry measurements were perform ed in 128 participants.FEV1,FEV6,FVC,FEV1%pred,FVC%pred,FEV1/FVC and FEV1/FEV6 were measured and analyzed.FEV1/FVClt;70% was used as the“gold standard”。Severity of obstruction was based on FEV % pred.From ROC curve analysis,the FEV1/FEV6 ratio,which corresponded to optimal combination of sensitivity and specificity,was determined.Correlation between FEV1/FVC and FEV1/FEV6 was studied.Results Of 128 participants,there were 65(51%)with FEV1/FVC ≥70% .Of the 63 participants with FEV1/FVC lt;70% ,there were 5 with FEV1/FEV6 between 70.09% to 71%。There was no significant difference between the mean value of FVC and that of FEV .Lifear correlation was revealed between FEV1/FVC and FEV1/FEV6 with the value close to 1(r=0.9979,Plt;0.0001).From ROC curve analysis,the FEV1/FEV6lt;71.14% was the best cut-off point coresponding to FEV1/FVC lt;70% .Conclusion These results suggest that FEV1/FEV6 is a valid alternative to FEV1/FVC for spirometric diagnosis of airw ay obstruction.There is a b corelation between FEV1/FEV6 and FEV1/FVC.
目的:探讨类风湿关节炎患者疾病活动与血清中白介素-20(IL-20)水平的关系。方法:用酶标记免疫吸附测定(enzyme-linked immunosorbent assay,ELISA)方法检测60例类风湿关节炎患者及30例正常对照者外周血血清中IL-20水平。分析IL-20水平与RA发病和类风湿因子(rheumatoid factor,RF)、C反应蛋白(C reactive protein,CRP)、血沉(erythrocyte sedimentation rate,ESR)及同期手X光片分期的相关性。结果:活动期类风湿关节炎患者外周血中IL-0水平明显高于正常对照组(Plt;0.1)。类风湿关节炎患者IL.0水平与其RF、CRP、血沉及同期手X光片分期无明显相关性(Pgt;0.)。结论:活动期类风湿关节炎患者外周血中IL-20平明显高于正常对照组,但与RF、CRP、血沉及同期手X光片分期无明显相关性。IL-0可能参与类风湿关节炎的发病过程,提示需进一步研究。
